The zip wire flies you 130 metres into the forestry, from here small paths lead you through the pine trees to other areas where each activity takes place in its own clearing. The activites include a rope course, 10 metre high climbing and abseiling wall, archery, orienteering and team building. A hike to Loughcrew's hidden lake brings you to the 'Raft Building' area where each team has to build a raft to get to the island.

There is a water here to suit all tastes, including one of Europe’s most famous brown trout fisherys is in Lough Sheelin.

Season: The season begins in March when the trout are feeding on freshwater shrimp and freshwater louse. Useful fly patterns are Hares Ear, Claret & Mallard, Sooty Olive; even a large black lure e.g. Sweeney Todd, fished on the point on a sink tip line.
Permits: a Shannon Regional Fisheries Board (ShRFB) permit is required and is available from their office at the lake.

There is no close season for coarse fishing in Ireland. Roach and perch in particular, can be fished all year round. Species such as tench, bream and rudd, which are most active in warmer weather, have a natural season extending from April to October.

Mullagh Hill Walk
Mullagh
Distance: 2km Grade:Moderate
Terrain:Hillside walk on pathway
Park at the amenity area on the lake shore outside Mullagh on the Virginia Road (R194). Walk along the main road towards Cavan for 300 metres. There is a sign on the right hand side pointing to a hill walk. The path way is good but steep. Wonderful 360 degree views across Counties Cavan and Monaghan.
Mullaghmeen Forest Walk
Mullaghmeen is located 8km west of Oldcastle
Distance: 5.5km Grade: Easy / Moderate / Hard
Terrain: Good pathways through woods. There are a number of trails varying in length from 1 to 13 mils long. Yellow trail is 2 miles long, White trail is 6.5 miles long and the Blue trail is 13 miles long for the experienced walker.

Terrain: Good pathways through woods and along the lake shore
A beautiful forest walk in the town of Virginia. Slí na Sláinte signs are located throughout.
Castle Lough and Forest Walk

Terrain:Forest park and lake shore.
Begin at the Castle Lake outside Bailieborough on the Shercock Road (R178). Follow the path around the lake enjoying wonderful views. Fishing stands available.
Dun na Ri Forest Park

Ross Equestrian Centre is situated on a 400 acre farm along Lough Sheelin and an approved member of AIRE. We offer ride-outs and lessons individually or in classes. We have regular show jumping clinics on our large sand arena 80m by 50m and the warm-up arena 40m by 30m.
On the 5km cross-country-course beginners and the experienced riders can test their ability. For the young riders we run pony camps regularly. We also train and exercise your pony/horse.
